What is LumaWrap?+
LumaWrap is a soft, wearable wrap lined with red and near-infrared lights. You strap it over a sore knee, hip, lower back or shoulder, press one button, and it runs for 20 minutes before switching itself off.
What do the two wavelengths do?+
The 660nm light is the visible red you can see and it works at the surface of the skin. The 850nm light is near-infrared, which you cannot see, and it travels 4 to 5cm deeper to reach the tissue and the joint itself.
How long before I notice anything?+
Most people say they notice something in the first 7 to 14 days of daily use. The bigger change usually comes between weeks 4 and 6. It is a daily habit, not a one-off treatment.
How often should I use it?+
Twenty minutes a day on the area that bothers you. There is no benefit in going longer, which is why it switches itself off.
Can I wear it over clothing?+
Use it against bare skin. Clothing blocks a large share of the light before it reaches you.
Does it get hot?+
It gives off a gentle warmth, similar to a hot water bottle that has been on for a while. It is not a heat pad and it does not get uncomfortable.
Is red light therapy safe?+
Red and near-infrared light therapy has a long safety record and does not contain UV. It is not suitable for everyone, though. If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or implant in the area, take photosensitising medication, or have an active skin cancer, speak to your GP before using it.
Will it fit me?+
