Red light therapy belts in the UK: how to choose one
There are hundreds of these on sale and very little between most of them but the marketing. Five things actually separate a useful wrap from a novelty.
1. Both wavelengths, not just the pretty one
Visible red at 660nm looks impressive glowing through fabric and works at the surface. Near-infrared at 850nm is invisible and does the deeper work. 2. A fixed session with automatic shut-off
Longer is not better, and a belt with no timer invites you to leave it on for an hour in front of the telly. A fixed 20-minute session that ends by itself is the sensible design.
3. Where it actually fits
A lot of products sold as “belts” are waist-only. If your trouble is a knee or a shoulder, you want an adjustable strap and a panel small enough to sit flat on a curved joint.
