LumaWrap vs the alternatives
Most people arrive here having already spent money on two or three of these. Here is what each one is actually good at.

| Option | Cost | What it does well | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ibuprofen gel | £5 a tube | Dulls surface pain for a few hours | Wears off; not something to use every day indefinitely |
| Heat pad or hot water bottle | £15 to £40 | Comfort and looser muscles while it is warm | Relief stops when it cools; nothing cumulative |
| TENS machine | £25 to £80 | Blocks pain signals during use | Sticky pads to replace; masks rather than builds |
| Single-wavelength red light belt | £30 to £60 | Surface-level light therapy | Usually 660nm only, so little depth; often no timer or UK warranty |
| Clinic red light sessions | £40 to £70 a visit | Powerful panels, supervised | Two or three visits a week adds up quickly, plus travel |
| LumaWrap | £139 once | 660nm and 850nm together, 20 minutes at home | Takes 4 to 6 weeks of daily use; not an instant fix |
They are not really competitors
Gels and heat pads work on the hour you are in. Light therapy works on the month you are in. Plenty of our customers still reach for a hot water bottle on a bad evening and use LumaWrap daily alongside it — there is no conflict.
Against a cheap belt from a marketplace
This is the comparison that matters most, because the price gap is large. The honest summary: a £40 belt is usually 660nm only, often has no fixed session length, and typically ships from abroad with a 14-day return window. For surface soreness it may be all you need. For a deep joint ache, the wavelength that matters is missing. We set out how to check in choosing a red light therapy belt in the UK.
Against clinic sessions
Clinic panels are more powerful than anything you can strap on. If you can get there three times a week for six weeks, that is a good route. Eighteen sessions at £50 is £900, though, and the travel is the part people stop doing.
Where LumaWrap is the wrong answer
- You want relief tonight. Take the gel.
- You have a new, hot, swollen joint. See a doctor.
- You know you will not keep a daily habit for six weeks. Save your money.
If none of those apply, the pricing is here.
